The feature is called “Community Voices”. People can use it to record short audio clips about their neighborhood, town, or shared experiences. These recordings can be about local events, traditions, or personal histories. Users share these stories with specific groups or publicly on their profile.
Facebook believes this tool helps preserve local culture. Many stories disappear over time. Recording them keeps these memories alive. The company sees this as a way to strengthen community bonds. Hearing personal stories builds connection between neighbors.
Using “Community Voices” is simple. Users open the Facebook app. They find the feature within the post composer. They tap to start recording. They can record for a set time limit. After recording, they add a title and description. Then they choose where to share it. Listeners can play the clips directly in their News Feed.
Privacy controls are important. Users decide exactly who hears their recordings. They can share with friends, specific groups, or publicly. Facebook states it will not use these recordings for ad targeting.
